Documentary To Debut Saturday In Paris

<p><strong>Documentary</strong>. Students from several high schools and two universities participated in a This Is Arkansas documentary that will debut in Paris Saturday.</p>

Citizens of Arkansas have always had pride in their state as well as an interest in its history.

Western Arkansas Educational Co-op acquired the services of Ray Bertram of the “This Is Arkansas” initiative in Booneville, and Dr. Curtis Varnell of Paris, to create a documentary on the Civil War events in this area. Of note was the Battle of Haguewood Prairie in 1863.

In that battle, Confederate troops were on their way to Missouri and made contact with the First Arkansas Infantry Company H.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the premier viewing of this documentary as well as This is Arkansas: Paris, Arkansas will take place at the Middle School Auditorium in Paris, at 7 p.m. The school is located at 602 North 10th.

Students from Ozark, Paris, Waldron, Scranton, Cedarville and Subiaco Academy participated in this documentary, as well as students from the University of Arkansas of Ft. Smith, the University of the Ozarks and the University of Central Arkansas.
