It was not how John Parrish would have preferred to have Booneville Public Schools in the state’s largest newspaper, but it wasn’t really a big deal either, the superintendent says.
On Friday the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette carried a caption below a photo that states a Capital Police officer is shown assisting the driver of a Booneville school bus as it backs away from the tunnel at the capital.
“It’s kind of embarrassing,” said Parrish. “This is not the way you want to make the state paper.”
The bus was never stuck in the tunnel, and it was driven home after the event, Parrish said.
With the exception of a few scratches to an antenna, the bus, which was used to transport fifth grade Enhanced Learning Program (ELP) students to Little Rock to meet the governor, was not damaged, Parrish said.
