Office Seekers To Speak At Grassroots Delta Caucus Conference

LITTLE ROCK — Ten major-party candidates for state and national offices are among the scheduled speakers at the Delta Grassroots Caucus Conference at the Clinton Presidential Library this week.

The event will be held from 4:15 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday and from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Friday. Scheduled speakers for Thursday are Gov. Mike Beebe; U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton, R-Dardanelle, candidate for U.S. Senate; Patrick Henry Hays, Democratic candidate for the 2nd District congressional seat; and U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Jonesboro, candidate for re-election to the 1st District seat.

On Thursday, scheduled speakers are James Lee Witt, Democratic candidate for the 4th District congressional seat; Heber Springs Mayor Jackie McPherson, Democratic candidate for the 1st District congressional seat; Asa Hutchinson, Republican candidate for governor; Mike Ross, Democratic candidate for governor; U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., candidate for re-election; French Hill, Republican candidate for the 2nd District congressional seat; and state Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Hot Springs, candidate for the 4th District congressional seat.

Former President Bill Clinton will give a live address to the gathering on Friday via video screen if his schedule permits, said Lee Powell, executive director of the Delta Grassroots Conference.

People who wish to attend but have not paid the registration fee in advance can pay at the door, Powell said. Their fee will depend on how much of the conference they will attend, he said.
