Certified law enforcement officer. Booneville Police Department officer Kody Smith (left) is congratulated by BPD Chief Al Brown on his recent completion of training at the Fort Smith Police Department Academy.

In a recent ceremony Booneville Police Department officer Kody Smith graduated from the Fort Smith Police Academy. Booneville Police Chief Al Brown was in attendance.

Having already completed training as a part time officer and working for the BPD as a dispatcher/jailer, Smith was elevated to full time status with the department when officer Norman Wilder became the student resource officer for the Booneville School District.

A Booneville High School graduate, Smith is married to Lacy Smith and the couple has one child. He is the son of Robert and Melinda Smith.

Although all BPD officers have undergone police academy training, Smith is only the second BPD officer to undergo academy training through the Fort Smith PD. Previously, the only choice for academy for police officers was at the state’s academy in Camden.
