Two Face Murder Charges

Brett Bodine, 51, and Harry Bodine, 53, both of Paris, are facing first degree murder charges in connection with the May shooting death of 33-year-old Joseph Stapleton.

The two men were arrested Wednesday after being questioned by investigators with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police, according to Logan County Chief Deputy Sheriff David Spicer. The two men have also been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and hindering apprehension or arrest, Spicer said.

Spicer said the two men are scheduled to appear before 15th Judicial District Circuit Judge Jerry Don Ramey later today for a bond hearing.

The two men are being held in the Logan County Detention Center in Paris.

Stapleton’s body was discovered on May 14 in the yard of his North Fifth Street home near Paris. He died from multiple gun shots, investigators said.
