Stanley Bryant announced Wednesday he will not be seeking another term on the Booneville City Council.
Bryant said he was stepping down after 12 years on the council because he works out of town and it is sometimes difficult to arrive at 5 p.m. council meetings.
Bryant also said he felt like anyone who might have a desire to serve on the council might like to know his intentions before the close of the filing deadline at noon on Friday. Bryant is the Ward 3, Position 1 representative on the council.
Candidates for Booneville city government posts must submit a petition bearing the names of at least 30 registered voters at the Logan County Clerk to certify candidacy.
Incumbent Stan McConnell has filed for mayor of Magazine but with the filing deadline just two days away, Jerry Wilkins, nor anyone else, has filed for the mayoral post in Booneville.
