Melvin Edward Nelson

Melvin Edward Nelson, 82, of Booneville passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 under the care of Peachtree hospice. He was born Dec. 18, 1931 in Clearfield, Pa., to Melvin Clair and Elizabeth (Bloom) Nelson.

He was a Methodist. He was retired both from Stephenson Oil and Wayne Poultry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, D. Kay (Hill) of 33 years; his parents; three sisters, Jean, Barbara and Sally; daughters, Mary Helen Nelson and Karen Nelson Ward; one grandson, William “Billy” Schneider; great-granddaughter, Emma K. Ward; and two great-grandsons, Bryce and Dillon Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Patricia of the home; three daughters, Rachel Shook of San Antonio, Texas, Melinda Nelson Schneider and Dorris Nelson Maxwell and husband Paul, all of Booneville; one step-son, Charles Payne of McCook Neb.; seven grandchildren, Lynn Schneider and husband Jason Cook of Lake Jackson, Texas, Mariah Ward and husband Bryan Jammer of Sweeny, Texas, Amanda Ward and husband Aaron Thomas of Stafford, Texas, Mary Maxwell and husband Clay Smith of Charleston, and Kelly Maxwell of Fort Smith.

He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Maya, Kaylee and Will Cook; Kamryn, Bryan, Jr. and Kaden Jammer; Devin, Aston and Taylor Thomas; and Rhue and Darcy Smith.

He was able to be with and say his good-bye to all of his loved ones.
