Walter Dan Brown
Walter Dan Brown, 92, of Booneville, passed from this life Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 in Booneville. He was born Nov. 12, 1921 in Booneville, to Walter and Mattie Cora Dilday Brown.
He owned and operated a television repair business in Booneville for many years until his retirement. He served on the Booneville Fire Department for 20 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Booneville. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp from 1941-1945 in the 2nd Marine Division, “B” Company, 2nd Tank Battalion in Tarawa, Tinian, and Saipan.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. Above all, he loved his family and his country.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Zetha Adams, Estha Brown, and Reba Speer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Modean Brown of the home; three daughters, Sue Helton and husband Richard, Sandra Moses and husband Denny, Dana Morris and husband Rick, all of Booneville; one son, Daniel Brown of Booneville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Clema Jean Nichols of Greenwood, and Mary Jane Beard of North Little Rock.
Pallbearers will be Brock Moses, Brandon Morris, Jarred Brown, James Roberts Jim Rodatz, and Jerry Oswalt. Honorary Pallbearer will be Granville Preston.
