<p><strong>Packing Up</strong></p><p>Eric Rogers of the Booneville Fire Department collects hoses used on a house fire at the home of former Booneville head football coach Kenneth and Cookie Rippy on Ridgeview Drive Monday morning. There was nobody at home when the fire was reported by a neighbor. The Rippys had smelled smoke Sunday evening, consulted an electrician who suggested calling the fire department to investigate. Fire department officials combed the home’s attic for hot spots and used of infrared cameras which revealed no areas hotter than 82 degrees when they left the property at about midnight. Electrical service to the home was cut off as a precaution and the Rippys left the home. A neighbor called 911 to report the fire at about 4:45 a.m.</p>

<p><strong>Homes Destroyed</strong></p><p>A home in the 300 block of West Fourth Street in Booneville was destroyed by fire Friday night. A 9-1-1- call for the fire was placed at 11:22 p.m. and firemen were on the scene until about 5 a.m. according to Booneville Fire Department Captain Clay Wiggins. Wiggins said the fire appeared to start on the east side of the home possibly in the kitchen or an adjoining room. Fire also destroyed a home in the Chismville area Sunday morning. That call was placed at 3:45 a.m. according to a Logan County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher. There were no injuries reported in either fire. The Ratcliff Fire Department handled the Chismville fire and Booneville Rural Fire Department assisted in both fires. (Photo by Melody Brown)</p>
