Booneville pounced on the Lions early and often Friday night in the home opener at Bearcat Stadium, racing to a 41-0 lead by halftime.
The Bearcats (2-0) settled for a 41-24 win in the nonconference game.
Bryson May started the scoring with a 5 yard touchdown run at the 2:45 mark of the first quarter and Booneville scored five more times in the next 14 minutes and change.
Matt Berry ran 6 yards for a touchdown, Josh Smith went 14 for a score, May added another 5-yard run for six, and May returned a fumble, caused during a sack by Michael Springs, for another touchdown. The Bearcats made it 41-0 on Berry’s second touchdown 30 seconds before halftime.
May led the Bearcats with 91 yards on 13 carries.
Held to only 6 yards in the first half, Gravette got on the board in the third quarter on a run by Cedric Duarte, then added a touchdown pass from Bryce Moorman to Shay Shimer in the third quarter.
The Lions got a scoring run by Moorman, and another Moorman to Garrett Bray touchdown pass in the final quarter.
