Drawing a crowd. Magazine’s Brittney Bryan is triple teamed on the way to the basket at Two Rivers last week. Down 12 early in the final quarter the Lady Rattlers rallied to win the game in overtime, 42-36, as Bryan scored 13.

Three Lady Rattlers had combined to score every point for Magazine at Two Rivers last Monday until Madison Cotton stepped up late in regulation and in overtime of a 42-36 win over the Lady Gators.

Cotton drained a 3 with 16 seconds to play to give Magazine (3-2) its first lead of the night, 32-31 but when 23 was fouled with 8.3 seconds to go she hit one of two to tie the score

Brittney Bryan had a chance to give the Lady Rattlers the lead with 5.8 seconds to go but she missed the front end of a one-and-on and the game went to overtime.

Brooklyn Lancaster momentarily gave Two Rivers the lead out of the overtime jump but Cotton hit another 3 with 3:28 to go to make it 35-34.

After a basket and a free throw by Bryan, who led all players with 13 points, it was 38-34 with 1:59 to go. A driving two by Cotton pushed it to 40-34 with 43 seconds to go and Cotton and Bryan had single free throws in the final 25 seconds to finish a comeback that saw Magazine trail by as many as 12.

Magazine didn’t score at all in the first quarter – Two Rivers managed only two baskets and led 5-0 after a free throw by Madison Reynolds.

It was 9-2 before a 6-0 run that included baskets by Heather Bryan, Brittany Bryan and Tierra Philips. A second basket by Heather Bryan got Magazine within 11-10 but Two Rivers closed the half with a 5-0 run and led 16-10.

Two Rivers pushed the lead to 11 at the 6:16 mark of the third quarter but Magazine trimmed it back to 21-17 on three straight free throws by Brittany Bryan before 22 hit a pair of 3s in the final minute of the quarter, the latter at the buzzer.

Reynolds scored again to start the fourth quarter and Two Rivers was up 29-17 before the comeback began. A 3 by Heather Bryan made it 29-20 and Phillips, who scored 12 and had 13 rebounds, had a personal 6-0 run to cut it to 29-26.

A free throw by Heather Bryan made it 29-27 and a bucket by Brittney Bryan tied the game for the first time with 1:22 to go.

Reynolds, who along with Lancaster led the Lady Gators with nine, gave Two Rivers the lead back with 1:11 to play, ending a scoreless streak of 6:09.

Two Rivers 46 Rattlers 33

The Rattlers (0-2) led 1-0 early on a free throw Brent Haney and after Lucas Young accounted for five straight Magazine points, again at 6-5 before the Gators took over. Young led the Rattlers with 12 on the night as 10 different players scored.

At the 5:43 mark of the second quarter the Rattlers had gotten within 13-9 on a basket by Lovell but it was over four minutes before a pair of Jason Lovell free throws and by then Two Rivers had a double digit lead at 21-9.

Magazine was no closer than 10 the rest of the game, which was the deficit after a basket by Young with 24.2 seconds to go in the half.

The lead was 12 after a Haney free throw with 2:35 left in the third quarter but Two Rivers scored the next nine points and led by 21.
