Three Lady Rattlers had combined to score every point for Magazine at Two Rivers last Monday until Madison Cotton stepped up late in regulation and in overtime of a 42-36 win over the Lady Gators.
Cotton drained a 3 with 16 seconds to play to give Magazine (3-2) its first lead of the night, 32-31 but when 23 was fouled with 8.3 seconds to go she hit one of two to tie the score
Brittney Bryan had a chance to give the Lady Rattlers the lead with 5.8 seconds to go but she missed the front end of a one-and-on and the game went to overtime.
Brooklyn Lancaster momentarily gave Two Rivers the lead out of the overtime jump but Cotton hit another 3 with 3:28 to go to make it 35-34.
After a basket and a free throw by Bryan, who led all players with 13 points, it was 38-34 with 1:59 to go. A driving two by Cotton pushed it to 40-34 with 43 seconds to go and Cotton and Bryan had single free throws in the final 25 seconds to finish a comeback that saw Magazine trail by as many as 12.
Magazine didn’t score at all in the first quarter – Two Rivers managed only two baskets and led 5-0 after a free throw by Madison Reynolds.
It was 9-2 before a 6-0 run that included baskets by Heather Bryan, Brittany Bryan and Tierra Philips. A second basket by Heather Bryan got Magazine within 11-10 but Two Rivers closed the half with a 5-0 run and led 16-10.
Two Rivers pushed the lead to 11 at the 6:16 mark of the third quarter but Magazine trimmed it back to 21-17 on three straight free throws by Brittany Bryan before 22 hit a pair of 3s in the final minute of the quarter, the latter at the buzzer.
Reynolds scored again to start the fourth quarter and Two Rivers was up 29-17 before the comeback began. A 3 by Heather Bryan made it 29-20 and Phillips, who scored 12 and had 13 rebounds, had a personal 6-0 run to cut it to 29-26.
A free throw by Heather Bryan made it 29-27 and a bucket by Brittney Bryan tied the game for the first time with 1:22 to go.
Reynolds, who along with Lancaster led the Lady Gators with nine, gave Two Rivers the lead back with 1:11 to play, ending a scoreless streak of 6:09.

The Rattlers (0-2) led 1-0 early on a free throw Brent Haney and after Lucas Young accounted for five straight Magazine points, again at 6-5 before the Gators took over. Young led the Rattlers with 12 on the night as 10 different players scored.
At the 5:43 mark of the second quarter the Rattlers had gotten within 13-9 on a basket by Lovell but it was over four minutes before a pair of Jason Lovell free throws and by then Two Rivers had a double digit lead at 21-9.
Magazine was no closer than 10 the rest of the game, which was the deficit after a basket by Young with 24.2 seconds to go in the half.
The lead was 12 after a Haney free throw with 2:35 left in the third quarter but Two Rivers scored the next nine points and led by 21.
