Harrel Runs For 158, Bearcats Smash Clinton

The last time a Clinton team played in Booneville the Yellow Jackets ruined a homecoming night. They were not about to wreck a perfect season.

Booneville (11-0) amassed 426 total offensive yards in the first half, including six carries for 158 yards by quarterback Cody Harrel, and opened a 42-0 lead. A pair of second half scores set the final at 42-13.

Harrel converted an early third-and-3 with a 48 yard carry to set up a 9- yard Josh Smith touchdown run that made it 6-0.

Harrel’s 65 yard run made it 14-0 with a Justin Shackleford two point conversion.

Smith went 58 yards for his second touchdown and Harrel 9 for his second before the first quarter ended with the Bearcats leading 28-0.

A 62-yard Bryson May touchdown run and a 2-yard run by Sam Cooney made it 42-0.

The starters were through at that point and besides Harrel’s night. Smith finished with 93 yards, May 79 and Matt Berry 68.

Caden Hickman ran for a third quarter touchdown and Fielder Dufrene hit Samuel Phillips for a touchdown in the final quarter for Clinton (4-7).

The Bearcats move on to the3 second round to face Hamburg. The Lions, the runner-up from Conference 4A-8, beat Mena Friday 48-12.
