NOTABLE: Booneville and Lincoln have three common opponents this season. The Bearcats opened the year with a 49-14 win at Ozark; Lincoln beat the Hillbillies 52-14 in week 9 in Lincoln. In their home opener in week 2, the Bearcats beat Gravette 41-24; Lincoln beat the Lions 41-7 in Lincoln in week 8. Booneville downed Dover 35-0 in week 8 in Booneville; Lincoln sunk the Pirates 71-0 at Dover in week 3.
With that eye-popping week 3 score, the Wolves have scored 462 points, or 38.5 per game. The Wolves have allowed 135 or 11.3 per game. The Bearcats, conversely have scored 479 points, or 39.9 per game, and have allowed 151, or 12.6 per game.
Booneville will be trying to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2004 when they traveled to Pine Bluff Dollarway. If the Bearcats win Friday they could again travel to, you guessed it, Pine Bluff Dollarway. Dollarway, of course, would have to win as well. The Cardinals host Star City this weekend in a game the Cardinals will host at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff due to field conditions at Dollarway.
Lincoln, on the other hand, will be trying to reach the semifinals for the first time ever. The two playoff wins by the Wolves this season have been the first in school history.
Lincoln was the runner-up in Conference 4A-1, with their only loss this season coming in week 6 to eventual conference champion Prairie Grove.
Although the Bearcats played in week 13 a year ago, this will be the first season of at least 13 games under Scott Hyatt because Booneville had a first round bye a year ago.
As noted above the teams have never met so there is not history to cite. There is also no history to recognized concerning Booneville playing at home on the day after Thanksgiving in consecutive seasons because it has never happened.
Oddly, however the Bearcats have never beaten a Wolf, going 0-3 against the Heavener, Okla. Wolves in games played in 1921, 1925 and 1926. However, Booneville is 4-2 against Curley Wolves (Prescott) and 1-0 against a Wolverine (Vian).
