Decatur got within 13-6 in the second quarter at Magazine Friday night, but the Rattlers needed only two plays to retake control of game on the way to a 28-8 win.

The Rattlers (8-2) started the ensuing possession at their 35-yard line when the Bulldog kickoff bounded out of bounds.

Charly Moua got 42 yards on the next play then hit Layton Robinson for 23 yards and a touchdown one play later. With Abraham Dority’s two point conversion run it was 21-6.

Moua ran for 109 yards on 14 carries. Dority, who along with Chenew Yang, handled the fullback duties in place of the injured Billy Yang, added 73 yards of 14 attemps as the Rattlers wrapped up a perfect home slate.

The Rattlers reached the Decatur 28 on their next possession but turned the ball over on downs and settled for the 15-point lead at the intermission.

Magazine started the second half with a turnover on downs but the Rattlers got the ball back when Lee Simmers caused and recovered a Bulldog fumble after a short completion.

From the Bulldog 49 Yang started the next drive with a 3-yard run and Dority, finished it with an 11 yard scoring run. Robinson’s point after made it 28-6.

Magazine started the next possession with a sack that helped lead to a punt. The Rattlers had seven sacks on the night with Simmers, Dority, Robinson and Alex Elkins all credited with 1.5 and Colton Siddons one as well. With the sacks the Bulldogs were held to minus 5 yards rushing and 135 total yards in the game.

Decatur, who beat the Rattlers in week 10 last year to eliminate Magazine from the playoff picture, would score once more when a punt snap sailed over Dority’s head and out of the end zone for a safety that made it 28-8.

The teams exchanged fumbles before the game ended – Robinson, who led Magazine in both tackles and tackles for a loss, caused a fumble and made the recovery for the Rattlers.

Fumbles were a problem for the Rattlers early as they lost their first possession to a loose football but a fourth down sack by Robinson got the Rattlers the ball back at their own 35.

Five plays later Moua went 25 yards for a touchdown to make it 7-0.

Two possessions later Moua ran 18 yards for his second touchdown and although there was a miscue on the PAT, Magazine led 13-0.

That would start a flurry of scoring as Decatur scored in three plays on a 32-yard pass play and Magazine answered in two to go back up by two scores.
