Thomas, Phillips Lead The Way In Road Games

Over the course of three days the Magazine Rattlers and Lady Rattlers twice boarded buses about three hours away from home after four game sets.

Scoring 40 points in the two games, Adrianna Thomas showed no ill effects of the travel as the Lady Rattlers swept Decatur and Eureka Springs.

The Rattlers, however, were victimized by the Bulldogs and Highlanders.

Adrianna Thomas scored 12 of her game-high 22 points in the final quarter and Tierra Phillips scored the last four of her six points as Magazine held off the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Rattlers were up only 33-28 when the final quarter began but Thomas scored Magazine’s first four points of the final frame and Phillips followed with four more before Thomas netted Magazine’s final eight points.

Early on it didn’t look like it would be much of a game as Madison Cotton scored five and Thomas and Brittney Bryan added four each in the first quarter and it was 13-5.

Sarah Travis and Thomas scored five each in the second quarter but Decatur kept hanging around, down just 28-17 at the half.

The Lady Bulldogs held Magazine to five third quarter points and got to within five.

The inside force of Adrianna Thomas and Tierra Phillips was too much Thursday. Thomas scored 18 to lead the Lady Rattlers and Phillips added 11.

Thomas scored half of Magazine’s first quarter points and it was 12-5 after one. Brittany Bryan added four.

She was one of five Lady Rattlers to score in the second quarter, but she did so three times and it was 28-11.

Madison Cotton, Heather Bryan and Phillips joined the scoring assault in the third quarter while the lead grew to 42-17 and Phillips scored seven in the final quarter while Magazine was shutting out the Lady Highlanders.

Brent Haney had a pair of third quarter buckets for Magazine and the teams matched points in the final quarter.
